A Quick Catch-up (Twist & Tween)

I do hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with friends and family. Christmas is such a lovely time of the year, yet it can be quite lonely for some people. I hope none of you had to spend Christmas alone.

Phil and I went out for lunch on Christmas Day with some friends and I have to say it was really very nice. We all enjoyed it immensely. After that we came home home and relaxed in front of the TV. Years ago, we used to throw parties, but now we tend to sit it out.

Now, we must all look towards the New Year and all it has to offer. Will you be celebrating the new year? Will you be out somewhere with friends or will you stay at home and raise a glass - or two?

Murder On Tyneside

Before I sign off, I would like to remind you that the ebook version of Murder on Tyneside will be released on 30th December. Pre-order available

However, I see that the Paperback version is now on sale on Amazon.

I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Keep safe and have a wonderful time.

Cheers!!

Happy Christmas - UPDATE!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

It is almost Christmas. I have posted all my cards and wrapped all my presents. Therefore I am all ready for the big day!

I can't believe it! But it's true; this year I am all organised. Until. of course, I find I have missed someone out. It always seems to happen to me. Just when I think nothing can possibly go wrong - something goes wrong!  Nevertheless, my fingers are crossed that everything will go according to plan and run smoothly.

Not that we are doing anything special. Our Christmas's are usually very quiet these days. Not like in the past when we had friends around to visit or went to parties etc. This year, we are going out for Christmas lunch with friends and then will probably come home and watch something Christmassy on television. No doubt there will be a few glasses of good cheer to help get into the Christmas spirit.) 🍷🍷🍷🍷

So what are you all up to this year? Are you all ready for the big day? Are you going out or spending Christmas at home?  I would love to hear how you are all spending your Christmas.

Only Twelve Days

If anyone is looking for an ideal Christmas read, I would like to mention that Only Twelve Days, will be only 99c/99p to download from 24th -30th December.

This delightful story tells how Sally and Bill meet quite by chance and fall in love. But will the path to happiness be straight and narrow?

And if that isn't your taste, then you might be interested in my latest novel Murder on Tyneside  due to be released on 30th December. However, it is available for pre-order now.  Some time has passed since my last novel was published, mainly due to domestic issues, so you can imagine how excited I am at the prospect of the impending release of this murder mystery. I have added the Blurb below.
Murder on Tyneside

Recently widowed Agnes Lockwood is spending a few days on Tyneside in Northeast England, keen on catching up with her past. But after only a few days at the hotel, an expensive item of jewelry is stolen.

After more jewelry goes missing, Chief Inspector Alan Johnson is assigned to the case. During the investigation, Alan recognizes Agnes as a friend from schooldays and they rekindle their friendship – with Agnes bombarding him with questions about the case.

After having dinner together one evening, they find a body lying on the roadside. Fearing for her safety, Alan warns Agnes to stay away from the case: theft is one thing, but murder is something else.

But being an inquisitive woman, Agnes can’t resist getting involved... too involved.

So why not follow the link and order a copy now! Please pass on the information to your friends who enjoy reading.

QUICK UPDATE. I have created a new page on Facebook for Murder on Tyneside. If you are on fb soon, why not stop by and give it a like xx

I think that is all for the moment. Except to wish you all a very Happy Christmas. I do hope you all have a wonderful time, but never forget what Christmas is all about,

It's beginning to look like Christmas!

I have started to write my Christmas cards. Usually a very lengthy process, as we have lived in several places over the course of our lives, which means we have lots of friends dotted in and around London. Though I must admit we haven't seen some of them for about thirty years now, but it is nice to catch up at Christmas time.

Anyway, today I had to go to the post office, so I thought I would buy a few postage stamps. I bought 50 and could hardly believe it when the lady said it was almost £28. Perhaps I should stick to sending e cards. But then, I thought it through and remembered how nice it is to receive Christmas cards through the door every day during the month of December, so maybe I will stick with it and simply start buying fewer stamps at a time. Still actually spending the same, but less noticeable - if you see what I mean

My book is still with the publisher. He sent me a couple of photo suggestions for the cover a couple of days ago, however I didn't think either were appropriate. So now I am waiting hear from again. Once the cover is sorted, I can start to organize some promotional stuff.

I am sitting here typing this in the midst of goodies all waiting to wrapped up for Christmas. We will be meeting up with my sister and her husband shortly, as well as our niece and her family, when we will all exchange presents. Even though we don't live all that far away, we don't see them very often, so it is good to get together just before Christmas.

In case you haven't noticed, I now have a button on the page where you can subscribe to my mailing list. I don't send out messages very often. It's usually to let people know when my books are on special offer. 😃

I have also added a link straight to Amazon for those who were planning to go there next!  It's quite big - you can't miss it! 😃

I think that is all for the moment.

Take care all and have a great day wherever you are!

Cheers!!

Exciting Times!

The Exciting news today is that I have sent off my latest novel to my publisher and at this very moment a proofreader is going through it.

I say exciting news, because it is really a very exciting time for me. It seems to have taken me ages to actually write this book.  At one time I didn't think I would ever get to the end of it - but here I am waiting to hear more news from my publisher.

The novel is called Murder on Tyneside and is set on the quayside of Newcastle on Tyne, and Gateshead, (I was born in Gateshead). Therefore if there are any Geordies reading this, I do hope you will order a copy when the book is released.

Now I need to concentrate on writing the perfect blurb for the novel; something that will whet the appetite of all readers out there.

Meanwhile, here in Kelso, we are still enjoying some sunny weather, though I have to say it is very cold. However, it could be worse, it could be snowing. I have heard that because of the lovely autumn, we could be in for a hard winter. I hope not!

How many of you are preparing for Christmas? My sister starts her Christmas list around Easter!

I am not like that I am usually running around at the last minute. However, this year I do seem to have got my act together and have bought a few Christmas presents. Now I will have to try to remember where I have put them...

In a few minutes the Sainsburys' man will be calling with my shopping. It is so handy having the groceries delivered into my kitchen. Though I should add the place is in chaos after he has gone. Putting them all away seems to take forever.

Well I think that is all for the moment,
Have a great day wherever you are

Cheers!!

The Trojan Project - Special offer for one week!!

Just a few words to let you know that The Trojan Project  is on special offer for one week!
(Oct 28th - Nov 3rd)

ONLY 99c/99p for this roller-coaster read

The story is set in the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland in the UK.

The Trojan Project
A peaceful night is disturbed as a strange light rises from behind the Cheviot Hills, and a green mist descends across the valley. Its swirling tendrils, seeming to bear a life of their own as they snake across the land, can only be an omen of something sinister and evil.

When Sarah's husband fails to return from work, she and her children set out to search for him. A terrifying discovery awaits her in the valley below her home and before long, the family finds themselves caught up in a desperate search not only for her husband Pete, but also for the meaning of the green light.

Pursued by the military, she slowly begins to realize their lives are in mortal danger.

The Trojan Project is a conspiracy thriller that takes you into a nightmare world where no one is quite what they seem, and trust becomes a word with little meaning.

I think that all for the moment!

Have a great day and enjoy the read!!

Glorious Day

It's is a glorious day today. Autumn in all its splendour!

The sun is shining, clear blue skies and the leaves on the trees are showing their golden colours.  Yet I always think there is a tinge of sadness at this time of the year. Days are shorter, nights are longer and there is a cold nip in the air. Also, we know it isn't going to get any better until spring raises it's head again.

How melancholy am I today?  I need to lighten up or else I am going to drive all you lovely people away and I would hate to do that.  I find it so refreshing to know that you all read my blog posts - even if I do talk nonsense most of the time!

This morning we went out for coffee at out local Garden Centre. I have to say they make the most delicious scones. After that we popped to Sainsburys as they had a special offer on Jack Daniels whisky and as it is one my husband enjoys, we thought we would take them up on their offer. - Can't turn away from a bargain!

After that we came home. Not really what you would say a mind blowing morning. Nevertheless it was quite enjoyable.

I am so pleased to be able to say that I have finished writing and correcting my latest novel. Finished correcting is perhaps not the quite right, as I have sent it to a proof-reader and I am sure she is going to find loads of things I have done wrong. However, when she gets back to me and I have altered the things she thinks need altering, I will send it to my publisher and then fingers will be well and truly crossed that he likes it.

I will certainly keep you all up to date with the news.

The novel is called Murder on Tyneside and is set on the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is what I think is known as a cozy mystery/murder.

Meanwhile, today is the last day of sale for my novel. Only Twelve Days, a delightful love story set in the 1970's. Only 99c/99p until midnight 25th Oct

I think that is all for the moment.

Have a great day wherever you are

Cheers!!

Bits and Pieces

I suddenly thought I had better get back to you as it seems a long while since I last posted a blog.

I hope all is going well in your world. As usual, things have been rather quiet here. Still I suppose that is better than being hurtled from pillar to post without time to take a breath... Or is it? When I was younger and out there in the job world, I was always quite busy and I loved every moment. But I suppose age catches up with you at some point and you do need to slow down, even if you don't want to.

We are now into October. It won't be long before Halloween, Guy Fawkes and then Christmas. Last year my husband and I went off to Nidd Hall for Christmas. It was wonderful and I really mean wonderful. The staff were great, the food was never-ending, as was the entertainment. We had booked to go again this Christmas, but as my husband had a stroke during our stay in the summer, I decided to cancel.

Not that the hotel had anything to do with him having a stroke, I hasten to add. It's simply because he was whisked into the local hospital and was there until well after our holiday was due to end, which meant I had to keep moving from one room to another. Fortunately, there was always somewhere for me to spend the night, but I doubt it would be possible to do that at Christmas. They are absolutely fully booked during the holiday season. Therefore we will be spending Christmas at home.

So far, October has been kind to us in the Scottish Borders. It's almost as though summer is reluctant to allow autumn to take over. But I guess now that I have said that, we will have a heavy downpour.

I have finished writing my novel, Murder on Tyneside.  I say finished because I was able to write The End at the bottom of the page a few days ago. Now I am at the stage where I am having to go through the whole thing and pull it together so that it makes sense... well some kind of sense anyway. After that I will read it through again and send it off to a lovely lady who has agreed to cast an eye over it and tell me what I should change before I send it off to my publisher.

I'm not sure the lovely lady knows what she has agreed to; my manuscripts usually need a number of changes. I tend to write the way I think - not always the best way to write a novel. But she is an editor, so maybe she has met other writers like me.

Anyway stay tuned and I'll keep you up to date with how it progresses.

I think that is everything for the moment.

Have a great day wherever you are

Cheers!!

Catching up!

This week I have been trying to catch up on things that I should have done, but were left undone!

I will clarify that a little by adding that in no way do I mean housework!  House work and I don't get on too well. We never did, though I think I used to tolerate it more than I do now. Therefore, when I say catch up on things, I mean more interesting things, but somehow managed to slip through my net.

Firstly, I decided that I wanted to thank one of the waitresses at Nidd Hall. She was really very nice to me when my husband was whipped into hospital. She always looked out for me coming into the restaurant every evening when I got back from the hospital.

I had been meaning to drop her a few lines for some time now, but kept forgetting. So this week I sat down and wrote to her. I felt so bad about leaving it for so long, I included one of my books. I thought she might enjoy reading it, (if she can ever find the time.)

Secondly, I thought it was about time I should add another Blog Post - it has been ages since I last spoke to you all. So here I am.

My husband had to see the Ophthalmologist at out hospital on Monday. He has been having trouble with blurred vision. It turned out that the lens implant after his cataract operation had done something - I am not sure what, but whatever it was it needed blasting with a laser. Anyway, it seems to have worked as he is seeing better now.

My friend and her husband have just come back from a visit to her family in south east England. They have been away for two weeks. I couldn't believe it when I heard they were on their way home. It didn't seem like two weeks since they went away. The days and weeks seem to be flying past. It will be Christmas soon!

I heard from my publisher that my novel Divorcees.Biz a fun romance is selling steadily at the moment. So that was a welcome piece of news. Hopefully my other books will not want to be left out in the cold and will follow suit!

My novel, "Murder on Tyneside" is still progressing slowly. I think my sister is fed up waiting for me to finish it. I have received two cards from her each showing a picture of the River Tyne and its magnificent bridges. I think they must be to give me inspiration or, more probably, to to tell me to hurry up and get on with it!! I have them standing on my desk and I look at them when I run out of ideas.

I think that brings me to the end of this post.
Don't forget, you can get a free copy of Strange Happenings by signing up for my newsletter. Simply go to my website and join my mailing list - Eileen Thornton

Just a thought, you might also like to check out the brand new links to my books on the right hand side of the page. I'm told that they swiftly take you to your nearest Amazon, wherever you are in the world. How cool is that?

Rather Hectic Happenings!

Things have been rather hectic  at the moment and that is putting it mildly!

On 4th July, Phil and set off to Nidd Hall, a lovely hotel near Harrogate. We were both looking forward to a restful week, however it turned into a nightmare. Phil took ill at around 10pm on the second day and he was rushed to Harrogate Hospital. I won't go into all the details, but he seems to have had a mini stroke. He was totally out of it for three days and when he did come around, he was very weak.

He was still in the hospital when we were due to leave Nidd Hall, but thankfully, I was able to get another room there for a fews days, (the one I was in was spoken for) before I had to move again. Anyway, he was in Harrogate hospital for almost another week before they felt it safe to transfer him to our local hospital here in the Scottish Borders, where he spent another ten days.

Thankfully, Phil is home now, but he has lost some of his memory and his vision is slightly blurred, I guess it will take time for him to get some of his life back together again.

Strange Happenings

Now that things are slightly normal I am going to try to get back to my novel, Murder on Tyneside, though I have to say some of the enthusiasm has gone.

Meanwhile, you might be interested to know that I have set up a 'Subscribe to my mailing list' on my website Eileen Thornton

Just a Quickie Today!!

I am just coming down to earth after the EU referendum results were declared last Friday.
The United Kingdom, as a whole, voted to stop being a member of the European Union.  Now we have our country back I feel we can breathe again.

I said 'as a whole' because as you probably know Scotland voted to remain. Therefore I guess we will have to wait and see what happens next.

Yesterday there was a tea party at out social club in honour of the Queen's Birthday. It was very nice and the committee did a wonderful job setting up the hall and laying out a superb spread.

Apart from that, I haven't anything to tell you except that I was intervied by Cheryl Holloway for her blog page. I would be very grateful if you would swing by her site and check it out. It would also be wonderful if you left a comment or two  Simply follow the link shown in red and enjoy. Interview

I will get back to you asap

Meanwhile have a great day wherever you are.

A Quiet Week!

Hi there  Just thought I would stop by and let you know that I am still around.

Things have been very quiet here over the last week or so. Therefore, I'm afraid I haven't anything fantastic to tell you.

Not that I am complaining about how smooth everything has been running. Far from it. But I'm sure you will agree that it is nice to be knocked off your feet once in a while - as long as we are able to stand up again... you get my drift.

Anyway, as I said things have been a tiny bit boring. We haven't been anywhere, done anything or seen anyone. But you never know, things could change over the weekend - after all, I could win the lottery - though I'm sure that isn't going to happen.

My friend is doing great after falling over and breaking her hip. You will recall that happened in the car park after our trip to Newcastle. Now we are both looking forward to another trip to the wonderful city only this time, we will try not to break anything!

Yesterday I had a chap come to try to move some of the gravel on our drive to another part of the garden. I don't know how we have so much of the stuff. I can only imagine that we were the last call the day it was delivered so they dropped it all off to save going back to the depot. If you can imagine Brighton Beach, then you have a fair idea of what our drive looked like.

On the other hand, perhaps that's where it all came from! Maybe the council down there thought they had too much and have started dropping it off on various drives around the country. Though I have to say, they would have had to travel a few hundred miles to bring it all the way here. Sorry Brighton Council, only joking. If you are a regular follower of my blog, then you will be aware that I spout a great deal of rubbish.

Anyway, I have to say the chap did a good job and it looks a great deal better. Even the area of the garden where he dumped it and raked it smooth looks good.

My latest novel, Murder on Tyneside, is coming on - slowly. However, the fact that it is coming on at all has to be good. It has taken me quite a long time to get started on my writing again, so bear with me and I will let you know when I have finished writing and am sending it to my publisher. Then I shall expect you all to have your fingers crossed that he will like it enough to publish. The novel is set on the quayside in Newcastle-on-Tyne, so if any of you know the area, you will recognise the various places mentioned.

Divorcees.Biz

Meanwhile, I would like to promote my novel Divorcees.Biz this week. As from today it is only 99c or 99p to download. The offer lasts for one week, so if you are looking for a fun read then get yourself a copy and enjoy the story of four divorced ladies who suddenly decide to set up their own online dating agency with an office in London's Mayfair.

I am sure you will enjoy the antics the ladies get up to during the story.

If you would like yo pass on the link to any of your book loving friends, then I would be very grateful. It can be very difficult getting the word out there. And if anyone has read it, please let me know what you think.

I think that is all for the moment.

Have a great day, folks,

Cheers!!

Keeping in Touch and a Whole lot More!

I am sorry I haven't been around lately, but things haven't been going my way. Perhaps I should rephrase that and say Things haven't been going our way!

My husband has been in hospital again. I say again, as he does have many health issues. However, I am delighted to be able to say that after a week in our local General Hospital, he seems to have pulled around and has been discharged. Nevertheless, as you can imagine, it has been a worrying time for us both.

On a brighter note I have say we have been having some lovely weather lately. No doubt it will revert back to the norm very soon, but we are enjoying it while it lasts.

Everything else is much the same. The elections in Scotland have been and gone and I am sure the whole world will know the outcome by now. I do hope there can be some harmony for the next few years.

The next election will be one for the whole of the United Kingdom to take part. Whether we stay or leave the EU is a very important issue for our country and it must be taken seriously by us all.

I will vote to Leave. No one will change my mind on that. This is a good, strong country. Therefore I don't think we should be talked down to by unelected bureaucrats. However, that is not the only reason I will vote Leave. I cannot bring myself to vote to give our country away after all those brave men and women fought and died to keep it free only for later governments to give away. I know it will be difficult. However I do think that if we all pulled together, we could make this country great once again.

But that is just me and my opinion. I cannot, nor will I try to tell you where to place your cross on June 23rd. That is your decision.

Everyone has a vote and you must all think hard about what is going on and vote for what you truly believe is best for Great Britain. Because, despite everything, this is still a free Democratic country.

Okay, lecture over.

Now I am going to tell you that on Thursday 12th May, my novel -
The Trojan Project will be on a promotion. It will be reduced to 99c/99p for one week. If you haven'y read this conspiracy thriller already, then check it out on Thursday at this bargain price.

I hope you are having some great weather wherever you are.

Cheers!!

Creativia Publishing- UPDATED

UPDATE!!

Proving that it is still very hectic at Creativia Publishing, I have a  New update!
My new blurb for Divorcees.Biz has now been added to the Website. Why not pop over there and take a look.

http://www.creativia.org/light-hearted-romantic-comedy-divorceesbiz.html

                           _________________________

Things have been very hectic at Creativia Publishing - my publisher.

They have been updating their website and asking all their authors to write new book blurbs, Biographies and Blogs. As you can imaging, this has put me in a spin because as you know I am not one for thinking quickly - well not any more. I seem to need a little time to get used to what I have to do or write. I liken it to getting into a swimming pool. I always lower myself into the water gently rather than hurl myself into the water

Anyway, I have made a start and now my new biography is up there on show and this is the link that will take you there to have a look.

This second link will take to you the new blurb I have written for The Trojan Project. You won't find this on the back of the books, at least I don't think you will. To the best of my knowledge this is only for the Website. Anyway, I would be delighted if you would take a look.

You would also be doing me a big big favour, by clicking on each of the links as I am told the more clicks the better - something to do with search engines and the like. Let me know what you think!!

(You also might like to take a look at some of the other authors while you are there. And if you are a writer, you might even like to get in touch with Creativia yourself.)

In the middle of all that, I am still progressing with my new novel, Murder on Tyneside. It is still very much in the early stages, but it is coming on and that has to be good. I only hope my publisher likes it when I do finally get it finished.
I think that is all for the moment, as I must shoot off and do some ironing. Boring, I know. But it still has to be done... sometime!

Have a great day, wherever you are

Cheers!!

The West Wing!

Okay, I can hear you. You are telling me that I have watched this series until it has come streaming from my eyebrows. And you are so right. I have! I could probably tell you everything you possibly want to know about the series.

Do you know why? Because it is the best series that was ever made. You will have guessed that I have just come to the end of the whole thing - yet again. But you must also realise that I wouldn't be watching it time and time again if it was useless. I have watched a number of programmes on TV that I think are useless, but I won't mention them here.

But The West Wing is great! Just in case you missed it, I will say that again... The whole series is brilliant and I was so disappointed that they didn't carry on with Matt Santos as President - even a few episodes with him as President would have been wonderful. To see Josh and Donna settle into their new jobs... well I can't tell you what that would have meant to me. I am sure a few other million people would have enjoyed it, too.

But it was not to be, so I will continue to watch the original series over and over again. Sad, you might think. But no it isn't. When you look at what is on TV today, then you must appreciate why I enjoy The West Wing time after time.

Okay, I am going to shut up now. But if anyone disagrees with me, then I would love to hear from you.

Meanwhile, I thought we were going to enjoy some lovely springlike weather up here in the Borders. But, apart from Monday, it seems it is not to be. Overcast yesterday and today. What happened? Did someone out there put a dampener on our weather?

Well I think that is all for the moment.

Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing as you only get one crack at it. Tomorrow is a whole new day, new challenges, new ideas and most likely
new problems.... sometimes I think it is best to stick with what we have got.

Cheers!

Member of the Month!

I am just so excited! I have just discovered that I have been nominated Member of the Month (MOM) for March in the wonderful group 'Rave Reviews by Nonnie Jules'.

The idea is that all members rally around and give a big shove to the current member of the month by promoting their books. In turn this will bring the attention of the readers out there to this particular member's work.

I joined the group few months ago and have really enjoyed my time as a member. The idea behind the group, founded by Nonnie Jules, is that the members all help promote each other's work. Believe me, independent authors need all the help they can get. It is a tough world out there with lots of new new books being published every day.

Anyway, I threw myself into the group with gusto! retweeting, sharing, promoting, reading and reviewing other members' work as best I could. I should add that one of the rules is that your reviews are totally honest.

They also run competitions etc. You might recall that I was promoting the RRBC Block Trailer Party a few months ago, where we invited everyone to check out and leave comments on the trailers to the various books on offer. Prizes were given to the most interest comment.

If anyone reading this is a writer, they might like to check out this group for themselves. Simply follow the link above to find out all they do to help their members.

I am following in the footsteps of Maggie Thom, MOM for February. She is a wonderful writer. I thoroughly enjoyed her novel, Captured Lies. So she is a hard act to follow. But I must add, she is only one of the truly great writers in the group.

And I think that is all for the moment.

But before you log off, why not check out the group, after all, it might be just what you are looking for.!

Cheers!

February!

Actually, I meant to write this post at the beginning of February. Now I have finally got around to it, I find that we are almost half way through the month.

So what have I been doing that has taken up so much of my time? Not a lot, actually!

I have been trying to update my website a little. I felt it was looking rather dull and needed a touch up here and there. Anyway, it looks much brighter, but I still feel something is lacking. Perhaps you could go and take a look and let me know what you think.
Simply follow the link - Eileen Thornton   and it will take you straight there.

I have also been working on my latest novel. Yes I have picked up the threads again and really trying to get it finished - though there is a long way to go!. I have decided to call it Murder on Tyneside as it is set in the City of Newcastle on Tyne. I hadn't planned on a murder, but somehow, someone has managed to get themselves murdered on the quayside - Bessy Surtees House to be exact. But the story sort of led me in that direction and who am I to argue with the characters in my novel?

Anyway, I am quite excited about it and have even contacted a photographer about using one of his excellent photographs for the cover. Hopefully my publisher will agree with the cover situation. But there I go, getting ahead of myself again. My publisher might not even like the manuscript. This writing lark is all such a waiting game.

At the moment my novel, Divorcees.Biz is on special offer at the moment. Which is another reason I am late in getting this post out. I have been trying to spread the word out there in the world and it does take time, even though I am using the internet. Anyway the book can be downloaded for only 99c or 99p depending on where you are. If anyone would like to pass the word around to their friends & relations I would be very grateful. However the sale ends on 15th February so you would need to be quick.

Well I think that is all for the moment.

Have a great day wherever you are.

Cheers!

Tying up Loose Ends!

January always seems to be a long month. Am I the only one to think this or do any of you out there feel the same way? I don't know why, but some months seem to fly past, yet, to me, January feels the urge to plod along at its own slow pace - and there are still three days to go.

My birthday is at the end of January, but I don't think that has anything to do with why I feel it is slow. Quite honestly I have reached an age where I have stopped celebrating birthdays. It just tends to remind me how old I am getting. How did I ever get onto such a depressing subject.

These blog posts are meant to be positive and uplifting. All pointing out the lighter and brighter side of life. Must change the subject quickly!
A Surprise for Christine

Okay for a start my anthology of short stories, A Surprise for Christine will be starting a special offer on Thursday 28th.Jan. For one week you will be able to pick it up from Amazon for only 99c/99p. But like I said the offer only lasts one week, so don't miss out.

The short stories are all light-hearted and upbeat and short enough to enjoy with your morning coffee break. They were all previously published in women's magazines in the UK at a time when I did freelance writing.

Anyway, like I said if you want to give the stories a shot then take a look on Amazon.

I have just come off the phone from Sainsburys. I was checking our bank statement when I noticed that Sainsburys hadn't taken out the money for our last delivery of groceries. So, I gave them a ring to inform them.  Anyway, it is all sorted now and the morning will be taken sometime today. I think they were amazed at how honest I was, considering the bill was for over £130.

I called this post - Tying up Loose Ends, but now I come to think of it, I don't really have any loose ends to tie up. Everything in my life seems to be all sewn up at the moment. How sad is that?

Therefore, unless I come up with something really way out of this world, I guess that is it for the time being. Or at least until February.

In the meantime, have a great day wherever you are and enjoy whatever you are doing!

Cheers!

January!

Okay, everyone, How is the month of January going for you?

January always seems such a long month to me. It's cold, wet, dismal and there is always the chance of snow. So really, January doesn't have much going for it, does it?

In my case it has less going for it than it ever it did. I had my first ever prang in the car earlier this week. Can you believe it. Out of all the years I have been driving, bearing in mind that I learned to drive in North London many years ago and drove around there without the slightest hint of trouble, I had to scrape against another car on a  quiet road here in the Borders. Anyway, there is nothing I can do about it now. The slight dent will be sorted and the car will look like new. But I know it happened and will be fed up for some time to come. Not such a good start to 2016 for me!

Anyway, back to something more cheerful. I saw some photos of my lovely nephew, which were taken while he, his parents and other members of his family were on a short break. He certainly looks as though he is enjoying himself.  This one shows him in front row with his cousins having a whale of a time. I am not sure what they are doing but you can't mistake the happy smile on his face - rosy cheeks and all,

I have decided I am going to put together a letter about the forthcoming referendum on the EU.

I know I am not politically minded, but I feel that I have a right to add my feelings to the debate and I will say Out! Actually if the truth were known I voted to stay out when we were given the chance all those years ago. Even then, I wasn't comfortable with the idea and quite honestly it has turned out worse than I ever dreamed it would.

Therefore I am going to have my say this time around. At least I will feel better knowing I have added something to the debate, even if no one takes any notice!.

Can anyone remember way back in the 60's there were a group of women who got together and started a "We're Backing Britain" campaign. Back then lots people joined them and I recall that whatever mess we were in then got sorted, because everyone pulled together. I wonder where those women are now? I would be interested to know.

Anyway, that is what I propose to do. I would welcome your thoughts on the matter.

On that note, I will close, for today, but I do hope you are having a great day!

Cheers!

Happy New Year!

First of all I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and all best wishes for 2016.

I am sure you did all manner of wonderful things to bring in the New Year and had a wonderful time in the process.  As for me... I went to bed!

This must be the first time I haven't seen in the New Year with a glass in my hand! But there you go. I suppose there is a first time for something, for everyone! I hope you understand that last sentence! I think I do!

Just to emphasise the point, I have added a photo of me taken many years ago. We were throwing one of our many New Year's Eve Parties at our house.

No, we didn't party or sip a drink as the clock chimed the midnight hour, we simply slept through the whole thing.

We did have a fun Christmas, though! We went off to Nidd Hall, a wonderful hotel near Harrogate in Yorkshire and had a great time. The staff were wonderful and the food was great. It was a bonus not to have to think about what we were going to have for each meal. It was all there prepared for us. Actually, there was too much food! we actually skipped two meals during our stay.

The Pavilion Theatre, the heart of the hotel, had various shows on all day and we were entertained by some wonderful acts, such as Martin Daniels (son of Paul) and the wonderful Todd Miller Orchestra, which was formed by Joe Loss some years ago..

Anyway, it was all very nice and a big thank you must go to all the people who made our stay so wonderful.

The only sorry thing was that we had a puncture on the way there. Can you imagine it? The tyre suddenly decided that it had had enough and let us down on the A1. After some delay the car was lifted onto a truck and we were taken to a Kwik Fit Centre in Morpeth, where we were fitted with a new tyre and sent on our way.

I do hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that the true meaning of the Season of Good Will wasn't forgotten while opening your presents.

Have a great day however you are spending it.

Happy New Year to you all.

Cheers!
